On June 9th 1972 the Canyon Lake Damn became clogged with debris. With heavy rain fall sweeping the hills the damn couldn’t hold the weight and it burst leading to over 200 deaths, 3,000 injuries, 1,000 homes destroyed, and 5,000 automobiles totaled. One Night in June is a documentary played in Rapid City's Journey museum which tell the tragic tale of the area's deadliest flood.
